Joy of Giving Toyswap
Jacky Lo The Joy of Giving spoke to us about the power of understanding how we value toys, and that before we pass something on to others we should consider what we valued about that toy, and how we can make sure that toy will continue to be valued. He spoke of a connection between two schools - one city based, and the other rural NSW, and the connection they were able to grow with good quality and valued toys!
Check out what else the Joy of Giving has to offer:
Bettina Otterbeck and Robyn Melean, parents from Cammeray Primary School, spoke about, and shared the resources they have created in order to support their school not only to fundraise for a new school playground, but to educate teachers, students and parents about the benefits of recycling in our waste system through the Return and Earn program. This small group of parent volunteers along with support from the school staff have raise at least $50 a week and inspired students to teach others about the importance of recycling.
We also learnt about the way they run school working bees by involving children through scavenger hunts around the green spaces - a great way to involve the whole family!

Sophie Krynauw and Julia Edgar spoke to us about a new business they have started, inspired by Willoughby Council’s Active travel program, called walked.by.
Walked.by provide parents with a safe walk to school option that not only gets their children walking safely to school, it also teaches them observational and road safety skills along the way.
